Communication links and costs - overview. 

Teaching by telephone can only occur where costs of communications are reasonably low – thank goodness for discount telephone services and  the advent of Voice IP.

Fortunately nowadays, the cost of international communications, for the general public, is getting incredibly cheaper and cheaper, hence the costs of international telephone communication have been included in your remuneration package.  Believe it or not,  it would be cheaper for you to ring France than to make a local call in your own country of residence!! 

The modes of communication available to us and  their cost will of course depend, in  part, on where you are located  and  (more directly)  where your student is located.
