Communication links and costs - Example 3 You live in certain countries in Western Europe - (France, UK, Germany, Spain, Italy, Holland, Denmark – for example.) If you live in France, then your student will definitely call you. If you live in the other Western countries mentioned above, your student could possibly call you (we will show you how to arrange this through Inphonex.com). Their company pays for the local call to a portal in Paris, and you pay for the transfer from that portal to your country of residence. The cost would be exactly the same as for calling France, so it would not incur any further expense than if you were to call them directly. Call medium: Fixed phone to fixed phone - over Voice IP. Comments: This Voice IP service offers better and more reliable quality of communications than when using the computer to fixed phone medium (1) above. Remember though, that while most students are reliable and will dutifully ring you on time, there are other students who are not so dependable. In the end, you would probably find it more convenient to ring them, than to wait for them to ring you. It is up to you to determine who rings who. NB: If you live in countries further afield - for example Cyprus, Israel, Thailand – it would be cheaper for you to call your student, than for them to call you – simply because the cost of calling your country of residence will be more than calling France. Over Skype.com and Inphonex.com, the typical cost of calling France is $US 0.0204 cents a minute. Check out the rates over the inphonex.com or skype.com websites. |
