So - what is involved? The hurdles – legal and other! In effect, the way we (at Linguistic Connections) teach languages over the phone is exactly the same as the way we teach face-to-face. We can even listen to audios over the phone. Teaching without seeing! The first major difference is, of course, the fact that you cannot see your student(s) and visa versa. For some students, the very idea of communicating, in a foreign language and through an electronic medium is frightening. It is actually very good for them to confront these fears! The triangular distance! The second, even more important difference is the triangular distance between you (the school), your students and your teachers and the consequential need to transfer lesson plans and lesson modules to all parties by electronic or other means. Good and constant communications between all parties is important. Remember both students and teachers could be resident in any part of the world. Maintaining consistency and a uniform standard of teaching becomes an important priority. Adaptable learning modules. As our teaching philosophy is to offer course plans which are individualized to suit the learning needs of our students, it is not always possible to design one-size-fits-all course plans that would simply be applicable across the board. Hence we have put together lesson modules and plans that can be mixed and matched, or even modified at short notice, to suit the needs of your students. |
